Taxonomy
Diacanthaspis scitulus was named by Whittington (1956) [Paratypes: USNM 116526a-c]. Its type specimen is USNM 116525, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Loc. 8, Greenmount Church area, which is in a Turinian carbonate limestone in the Oranda Formation of Virginia.
