Taxonomy
Ampyxina elegans was named by Cooper (1953) [Paratype: USNM 116445a]. Its type specimen is USNM 116445c, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Raymondella elegans by Whittington (1959).
