Schizodus lianyuanensis was named by Zhang (1977). Its type specimen is IV55335, a valve (Left valve), and it is a mold. Its type locality is Qiaotouhe, Lianyuan County, which is in a Wuchiapingian coastal siliciclastic in the Longtan Formation of China.
