Phacops callicephalus was named by Hall (1847). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Dalmania callicephala by Hall (1859); it was recombined as Pterygometopus callicephalus by Clarke (1894); it was recombined as Calliops callicephalus by Delo (1935); it was recombined as Calliops callicephala by Allen and Lester (1957); it was recombined as Calyptaulax callicephala by Shaw (1968); it was recombined as Calyptaulax callicephalus by Brett et al. (1999).
