Taxonomy
Eoatypus woodwardii was named by McCook (1888). Its type specimen is BMNH In. 61271, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Bembridge Marls (A'Court Smith collection), which is in a Priabonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Bouldnor Formation of the United Kingdom.
