Taxonomy
Aphanaia waterhousei was named by Biakov (2011). Its type specimen is SVKNII 113/02-06.98, a valve (mold of left valve), and it is a mold. Its type locality is Fol'k Creek, Outcrop 9, Munugudzhak River, Omolon Basin, which is in a Kungurian marine siliciclastic in the Fol'k Formation of the Russian Federation.
