Taxonomy
Oxyporus was named by Fabricius (1775). It is extant. It is the type genus of Oxyporidae.
It was assigned to Coleoptera by Latreille (1796); to Eleuterata by Fabricius (1775) and Fabricius (1798); to Staphyliniae by Latreille (1802); to Staphylinidae by Scudder (1900) and Piton (1940); and to Oxyporinae by Herman (2001), Bouchard et al. (2011) and Solodovnikov and Yue (2011).
