Bolbocephalus seelyi
Taxonomy
Bathyurus seelyi was named by Whitfield (1889). Its type specimen is AMNH 35502 (lectotype), a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Division B Beds, below the lower "Ophileta beds", Section northeast of Shoreham, which is in a Stairsian carbonate limestone/dolomite in the Fort Ann Formation of Vermont. It is the type species of Bolbocephalus.
It was recombined as Paraplethopeltis seelyi by Boyce (1989); it was recombined as Bolbocephalus seelyi by Fortey and Bruton (2013).
