Taxonomy
Palaeopharus (Minepharus) was named by Tokuyama (1958) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn Sepkoski's reference number: 94]. It is not extant. Its type is Palaeopharus (Minepharus) triadicus.

It was reranked as Minepharus by Cox et al. (1969), Hayami (1975), Sepkoski (2002) and Ros-Franch et al. (2014).

It was assigned to Palaeopharus by Tokuyama (1958); to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Cardiniidae by Cox et al. (1969), Hayami (1975) and Ros-Franch et al. (2014).
