Taxonomy
Ungaliopheidae was named by Zaher (1994) [apparently the junior synonym of Ungaliophiinae McDowell 1987, only differing in taxonomic rank]. It is extant. It was considered monophyletic by Zaher (1994) and Wilcox et al. (2002).

It was corrected as Ungaliophiidae by Wilcox et al. (2002) and Longrich et al. (2012).

It was assigned to Booidea by Zaher (1994) and Wilcox et al. (2002); and to Macrostomata by Longrich et al. (2012).
