Paracyclas was named by Hall (1843) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl D Fame-u]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Lucina (Paracyclas) by Hall and Whitfield (1872).

It was assigned to Lucina by Hall and Whitfield (1872); to Mactromyidae by Cox et al. (1969) and Vokes (1980); and to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002).
