It was misspelled as Coelophysis by Habe (1955) and Itoigawa and Ogawa (1973); it was reranked as Retusa (Coleophysis) by Oldroyd (1925) and Pacaud and Le Renard (1995).

It was assigned to Retusidae by Habe (1955) and Itoigawa and Ogawa (1973); and to Retusa by Oldroyd (1925) and Pacaud and Le Renard (1995).
