Prognathodon waiparaensis

Taxonomy
Prognathodon waiparaensis was named by Welles and Gregg (1971). Its type specimen is C.M. zfr 108, a partial skeleton (disarticulated skull, cervical vertebrae, and ribs), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Waipara River, upstream from Laidmore Bridge (M3/f9254), which is in a Maastrichtian offshore sandstone in the Conway Formation of New Zealand.
