Taxonomy
Ceratites hedenstroemi was named by Keyserling (1845). It is the type species of Hedenstroemia.

It was recombined as Hedenstroemia hedenstroemi by Spath (1934), Bychkov et al. (1976), Dagis and Ermakova (1990), Tozer (1994) and Dagis et al. (1996).
