Taxonomy

Eoptychoptera simplex was named by Handlirsch (1906). Its type specimen is GPIG 120/5, a wing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Dobbertin, Mecklenburg (Greifswald collection), which is in a Toarcian offshore claystone in Germany. It is the type species of Eoptychoptera.

Synonyms

Proptychoptera liasina was named by Handlirsch (1906). Its type specimen is GPI EMAU 122/80, a wing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Dobbertin, Mecklenburg (Greifswald collection), which is in a Toarcian offshore claystone in Germany.

It was recombined as Eoptychoptera liasina by Ansorge (1996); it was synonymized subjectively with Eoptychoptera simplex by Lukashevich et al. (1998).
Acritorhyphus ramosus was named by Bode (1953). Its type specimen is GPIC Cl 360, a wing, and it is an impression.

It was synonymized subjectively with Eoptychoptera liasina by Ansorge (1996); it was synonymized subjectively with Eoptychoptera simplex by Lukashevich et al. (1998).
Proptychoptera minor was named by Bode (1953). Its type specimen is GPIC Cl 360, a wing, and it is an impression.
