Trapezium (Schedotrapezium) was named by Stewart (1930) [Sepkoski's age data: K Camp K Maes Sepkoski's reference number: 914]. Its type is Trapezium carinatum.

It was reranked as Schedotrapezium by Cox et al. (1969) and Sepkoski (2002).

It was assigned to Trapezium by Stewart (1930); to Arcticidae by Cox et al. (1969); and to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002).
