Taxonomy
Gaoloupingia was named by Yuan and Yin (1998). It is not extant. Its type is Gaoloupingia gaoloupingensis.

It was assigned to Shumardiidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Alsataspididae by Peng et al. (2004).
