Taxonomy
Aviculopecten hyemalis was named by Salter (1865). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Niti Pass (Upper Permian), which is in a Lopingian carbonate limestone in India.
It was corrected as Aviculopecten hiemalis by Diener (1897), Diener (1903), Diener (1915) and Hayasaka (1967); it was recombined as Etheripecten hiemalis by Nakazawa (1981).
