Narkema was named by Handlirsch (1911). It is not extant. Its type is Narkema taeniatum. It is the type genus of Narkemidae.
It was assigned to Insecta by Storozhenko (1997); to Narkemidae by Handlirsch (1911), Handlirsch (1919), Handlirsch (1922), Carpenter (1992) and Béthoux (2005); and to Cnemidolestidae by Aristov (2014).
