Taxonomy
Septocardia was named by Hall (1877) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nori-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Septocardia typica.

It was assigned to Cardiinae by Vokes (1980); to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002); to Septocardiidae by Bouchet et al. (2010); and to Carditidae by Ros-Franch et al. (2014).
