Taxonomy
Metadagnoceras motoyoshiense was named by Ehiro (1993). Its type specimen is IPPM 60015 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Yamaya, Motoyoshi-cho, Miyagi Prefecture, which is in a Spathian marine shale in the Osawa Formation of Japan.
