Taxonomy
Ogbinopora orientalis was named by Gorjunova (1975). Its type specimen is PIN 2351/478 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Shukur-Dzhilga River, Central Pamirs, which is in a Wordian marine horizon in the Kalaktash Formation of Tajikistan.
