Taxonomy
Fenestella perelegans was named by Waagen and Pichl (1885).

It was recombined as Fenestrellina perelegans by Fantini Sestini (1965) and Fantini Sestini (1965); it was recombined as Minilya perelegans by Morozova (2001), Ernst et al. (2006) and Ernst et al. (2008).
