Spaniorinus was named by Dall (1899) [Sepkoski's age data: K Maes R]. It is extant.

It was reranked as Solecardia (Spaniorinus) by Glenn (1904).

It was assigned to Solecardia by Glenn (1904); to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Galeommatidae by Wienrich (1999) and Moths et al. (2010).
