Taxonomy
Schizodus xiangtanensis was named by Fang (1987). Its type specimen is NIGP 71748, a valve (Right valve), and it is a mold. Its type locality is Yintiansi (Douling Fm, Middle Mb), Xiangtan County, which is in a Capitanian marine mudstone in the Douling Formation of China.
