Terebratula itaitubense was named by Derby (1874).

It was recombined as Gundarolasmina itaitubense by Smirnova (2007); it was recombined as Dielasma itaitubense by Fantini Sestini (1965), Li et al. (1986) and Shen et al. (2016).
