Terraia was named by Cox (1934) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad-u Tr l]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Terraiidae.
It was assigned to Tellinacea by Vokes (1980); to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002); to Terraiidae by Bouchet et al. (2010); to Crassatelloidea by David et al. (2011); and to Terraiinae by Guerrini et al. (2020).
