Eugeropteron was named by Riek (1984). It is not extant. Its type is Eugeropteron lunatum. It is the type genus of Eugeropteridae.

It was assigned to Eugeropteridae by Riek and Kukalová-Peck (1984), Brauckmann and Zessin (1989) and Petrulevičius and Gutiérrez (2016).
