Taxonomy
Lophotichium dugoutense was named by Fedorowski (1987). Its type specimen is USNM 196975 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USNM733j, Dugout Mountain, Glass Mountains, which is in a Kungurian reef, buildup or bioherm limestone in the Skinner Ranch Formation of Texas.
