Taxonomy
Ammonites taylori was named by Sowerby (1826). It is the type species of Phricodoceras.
It was recombined as Aegoceras taylori by Wright (1880); it was recombined as Phricodoceras taylori by Hyatt (1900), Bremer (1965), Frebold (1970), Alkaya and Meister (1995), Smith and Tipper (1996), Rakús and Guex (2002), Donovan and Surlyk (2003) and Edmunds et al. (2003).
