Venilicardia was named by Stoliczka (1870) [Sepkoski's age data: K Nc K Maes Sepkoski's reference number: 914]. It is not extant.

It was reranked as Cyprina (Venilicardia) by Douvillé (1916).

It was assigned to Cyprina by Douvillé (1916); to Arcticidae by Vokes (1980); and to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002).
