Ventricoloidea was named by Sacco (1900) [Sepkoski's age data: T Ol-u R Sepkoski's reference number: 1112]. It is extant.

It was reranked as Venus (Ventricoloidea) by Pugaczewska (1984), Gazdzicki and Pugaczewska (1984) and Moths et al. (2010).

It was assigned to Veneroida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Venus by Pugaczewska (1984), Gazdzicki and Pugaczewska (1984) and Moths et al. (2010).
