Taxonomy
Lonsdaleiastraea asseretoi was named by Flügel (1964). Its type specimen is (62) IA-SH 4d and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kolah Kuh, (62) IA-SH 4, Elburz Mountains, which is in a Capitanian carbonate limestone in the Ruteh Formation of Iran.
