Taxonomy
Gertholites tebaga was named by Flügel (1997). Its type specimen is USNM 28038 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality J17, Halk el Djemel, Djebel Tebaga, which is in a Wordian reef, buildup or bioherm shale/limestone in the Djebel Tebaga Biohermal Complex Formation of Tunisia.
