Erodona was named by Daudin (1802) [Sepkoski's age data: T Eo-u R]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Erodonidae.

It was assigned to Corbulidae by da Silva Forti (1969); to Erodonidae by Cox et al. (1969); and to Myoida by Sepkoski (2002).
