Taxonomy
Discina utahensis was named by Meek (1877). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Weber Canyon, Wasatch Range, which is in a Roadian offshore shale in the Phosphoria Formation of Utah.

It was recombined as Lingulodiscina utahensis by Girty (1910); it was recombined as Orbiculoidea utahensis by Clapham (2015).
