Taxonomy
Palaeophyllites steinmanni was named by Welter (1922). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Nifoekoko, Niki Niki (Block "E" beds), which is in a Spathian carbonate limestone in Indonesia. It is the type species of Palaeophyllites.
