Taxonomy
Stenopora obesa was named by Morozova (1970). Its type specimen is PIN 2287/307 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 2.4 km SW of Dzhirem-Ula Mountain, which is in a Wordian marine horizon in the Tsagan-Ula Formation of Mongolia.
