Hemiptychina mongolica was named by Grabau (1931) [Hemiptychina himalayensis var. mongolica]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Jisu Honguer 1196, Hemiptychina Bed, which is in a Wordian carbonate limestone in the Zhesi Formation of China.
