Taxonomy
Camponotites steinbachi was named by Dlussky et al. (2011). Its type specimen is TU CI P In 191, an exoskeleton (winged gyne), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Willershausen clay pit (Clausthal collection), which is in a Piacenzian pond marl in Germany.
