Flabetheca chinense was named by Qian and Yin (1984). It is not extant. Its type locality is Xinhua Phosphorite Mine, which is in a Meishucunian marine phosphorite/dolomite in the Gezhongwu Formation of China. It is the type species of Flabetheca.
