Taxonomy
Nothosaurus tchernowi was named by Haas (1980). Its type specimen is N° HUJ-Pal. 3665, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was corrected as Nothosaurus tchernovi by Rieppel et al. (1997).
