Taxonomy
Courtilloticeras stevensi was named by Guex et al. (2005). Its type specimen is JGX-1032 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Union Wash JGX-UWK, which is in a Spathian deep-water siltstone in the Union Wash Formation of California. It is the type species of Courtilloticeras.
