Taxonomy
Hellenites elegans was named by Guex et al. (2005). Its type specimen is JGX-503 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hammond Creek JGX-ALPHA-HC, which is in a Spathian marine limestone in the Thaynes Formation of Idaho.
