Taxonomy
Prohungarites lenticularis was named by Guex et al. (2005). Its type specimen is JGX-1004 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Humboldt Range JGX-NHR-2360A, which is in a Spathian deep-water shale in the Thaynes Formation of Nevada.
