Taxonomy
Prohungarites beyrichitoides was named by Guex et al. (2005). Its type specimen is JGX-465 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hammond Creek JGX-HC9, which is in a Spathian deep-water limestone in the Thaynes Formation of Idaho.
