Strophalosia (Strophalosiina) multicostata was named by Licharew (1937). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Raskol Cliff, NW Caucasus, which is in a Changhsingian marine horizon in the Urushten Formation of the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Strophalosiina multicostata by Muir-Wood and Cooper (1960), Sarycheva and Grunt (1969), Grunt and Dmitriev (1973) and Kotlyar et al. (2004).
