Taxonomy
Punctocyrtella gigantea was named by Grunt (1993). Its type specimen is PIN 2774/400 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Muzdu-Bulak Valley, Tashkazyk Formation, which is in a Sakmarian marine horizon in the Tashkazyk Formation of Tajikistan.
