Glossomyophorus was named by Masse et al. (1984) [Sepkoski's age data: K Apti Sepkoski's reference number: ZR84]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Hippuritoida by Sepkoski (2002); to Caprotinidae by Steuber (2002), Kiessling (2003) and Masse et al. (2004); and to Monopleuridae by Skelton (2013).
