Taxonomy
Gymnites tozeri was named by Bucher (1992). Its type specimen is USNM 444127 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is SU 1431, Congress Canyon, North Humboldt Range, which is in a Bithynian offshore limestone/siltstone in the Prida Formation of Nevada.
